Double award scoop for ice cream company

Local ice cream producers, The Saffron Ice Cream Company, have won awards for their products at this years annual Great Taste Awards, which many refer to as the most prestigious of all the food awards.

The micro producers, who produce daily on a farm in Saffron Walden scooped 2 awards; 2 gold stars for their ‘Sherbet Lemon’ Sorbet and 1 gold star for their ‘Finest Vanilla Pod’ diary ice cream.

The ‘Sherbet Lemon’ Sorbet was ranked within the top 12 sorbet entries the countrywide awards judged this year. Comments on the sorbet, which is produced using an organic Italian cold pressed lemon oil, included; ‘Oh oh oh! This is sensational’, ‘Clean, Fresh and Pure Citrus taste’, ‘Cleverly judged sweetness and a fabulous consistency’.

Harry Bond Production Manager, commented ‘We are delighted to have won these awards, and had the comments and praise we did from the judges on our products. Great Taste Awards are highly sought after so to win 2 is amazing. Our products are all handmade with pride and passion and it is nice to have our hard work recognised’.

The company also recently celebrated their 6th Birthday.
