August – Busy with events!
August has lived up to its usual busy month for us here at The Saffron Ice Cream Company.
As well as supplying our regular customers with our handmade dairy ice cream we’ve been exceptionally busy scooping our freshly made luxury dairy ice cream to thousands of visitors.
Back at the start of the month we catered for the annual RHS Hyde Hall flower show. This is our biggest show of the season and along with our customer (and great friend) Roll out the Bunting and their beautiful vintage ice cream van and bike, we catered to the 30,000 visitors over 4 days with 2 ice cream trailers.
We catered for the eagerly anticipated Saffron Walden Motor Show on the common in the middle of the month. This year it was the 10th anniversary of Roger Abbotts show, and saw some 800 vehicles adorn the common. Temperatures soared on the day and the sun made sure it was a typically British affair.
We then geared up for the bank holiday weekend, which saw us scooping at Audley Ends biggest event of the season, World War 2, where in the region of 5,000 spectators arrived over 2 days to learn and watch all things military. In addition, we had our usual 2 pitches at The Countess of Warrick show in Great Easton. The weekend was exceptionally warm and our scooping team had their work cut out to keep queues to a minimum.
We’ve had lots of people take the time to come back to the trailer, send emails, contact us through social media to communicate their thanks for a fabulous product and express their best wishes for a successful future.
All the above in addition to scooping at numerous local weddings, a corporate day and supplying our customers with tubbed ice cream for retailing…..
